Volunteer before

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Volunteers before is a march by Johann Strauss Sohn (without opus number). It was performed for the first time on January 30, 1887 in the Sofienbad Hall in Vienna under the direction of Eduard Strauss .

Remarks

The work was composed for a charity ball organized by the Vienna Voluntary Rescue Society and was premiered on this occasion. The proceeds from the print version also went to the rescue company. Since the print version was also a special edition, an opus number was dispensed with. The title volunteer before refers to volunteers who are sought after in the rescue service.

The playing time on the CD listed under itemization is 3 minutes and 38 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
