Foreign economic area

Foreign economic area within the meaning of German foreign trade law was in accordance with § 4 para. 1 no. 2 Foreign Trade Law (AWG) to 2013 any territory other than the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Austrian territories of Jungholz and Mittelberg (these are year-round accessible only from the German side ). For the shipment of electricity applies Büsingen also as a foreign economic territory as this traditionally from Switzerland is supplied from electricity and not for the customs territory of the Community (according to the above, the agreement dated 23 November 1964 between the Swiss Confederation and the Federal Republic of Germany Inclusion of the municipality of Büsingen am Hochrhein in the Swiss customs area ).

Since the revision of the Foreign Trade Act 2013, the term is no longer used.
