history

The party was founded in 2008 from the environment of AVEMILGUA, an association of former military and veterans of the civil war . Some members are accused of participating in massacres of the indigenous Ixil population. In the 2011 congressional election, the party won 0.5%. In the 2015 elections she got 9% of the vote and 11 seats in Congress. At the same time, popular television comedian Jimmy Morales was elected President.

Alignment

The party describes its orientation as "Christian nationalist". The FCN is close to the evangelical Christian right and adopts their socio-political ideas about conservative Christian family values, the prohibition of abortion and “ prosperity gospel ”. In terms of economic policy, a neoliberal concept with a lean state and as little social security as possible is pursued. The party is considered pro- American and, although Jimmy Morales presented himself as an “anti-establishment candidate”, has the backing of the state elites.
