Freshguide is a free, advertising-financed music magazine in A6 format, which mainly deals with electronic music outside of the mainstream , but also presents computer games, fashion and fun sports. The magazine is printed in sheet-fed offset and published in various federal states with different title pages under one label, with each issue retaining a regional identity.

One focus is interviews with well-known artists and record reviews , another event tips from German club culture. The magazine appears on the first of each month and is distributed in record shops, trendy bars and clubs. The Freshguide website is geared towards the publisher's topics and, in addition to a date database for organizers, offers a flyer upload for everyone and a PDF archive of all the publisher's printed copies. The website was programmed by Thomas Fritsche based on e107 and expanded with expandable open source additional functions for editors and users.

history

The founders Stephan Flad, Mike Koefer, Alexander Gaube, Mathias Barth, David Lässig and Roger Döringer previously maintained a magazine called Doppelslash-Eventguide. At that time it was sold exclusively in central Germany with a monthly circulation of 25,000. In 2002 Doppelslash was renamed Freshguide, the circulation increased by 100,000 copies and further licenses were granted to Berlin, Rostock and later also Munich. In addition, with the exception of the Munich edition, the publisher has submitted to the circulation control by IVW eV. When marketing advertisements and distributing the regional editions, the magazine oriented itself towards the respective AC-Nielsen areas and published the corresponding media data.

As the IVW announced in 2008, the publishing company was excluded from IVW by the IVW board of directors with the title “Fresh Guide”.

distribution

Freshguide appears monthly with 125,000 copies with four regional editions in Berlin, Munich, Northeast Germany (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Brandenburg) and Central Germany (Saxony, Thuringia, Saxony-Anhalt, Lower Saxony).
