Frieda Allenbach

Maja Frieda Allenbach , b.  Frieda Meier (born May 6, 1907 in Basel ; † 2002 ibid) was a Swiss graphic designer and draftsman.

Life

Together with her husband, the architect Werner Allenbach, she ran a studio in Bern.

Works

Allenbach designed a. a. Posters for the Bern local group of the SWB as well as advertisements for Astra margarine. Your design for the standardized exterior signage for post offices, composed of sans serif minuscule letters from 1933, had a formative effect on the style of directional signs in and outside Switzerland. The works were initially often attributed to her husband, since they appeared under his name.

Your works are u. a. represented in the collection of the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich .
