The Hassels cemetery is a cemetery in the Hassels district of Düsseldorf . He has an area of ​​7.25 hectares. The first funeral took place on July 20, 1920. At that time it was the community cemetery of Benrath, which at that time was still an independent community until it was finally incorporated into Düsseldorf in 1920. The rich tree population is characteristic of the Hasseler Friedhof. The main axis planted with linden trees and an avenue of birch trees are striking. A cemetery of honor for German soldiers and bomb victims was laid out in the old part of the facility in the 1950s. He has a memorial made of Eifel Lavatuff. In 1940, the chapel, which is now a listed building, was built together with its outbuildings. In 1965 the cemetery was expanded to include the land of a neighboring farm bought by the city of Düsseldorf due to full occupancy .
