Cemetery chapel

The Maria Schnee cemetery chapel (also known as Gottesackerkirche), which was built in 1535, is located in Eichstätter's east cemetery.

description

Until the 16th century, the city's most important cemetery was located at the cathedral . After this cemetery became too small, two new cemeteries were built in 1535, the west cemetery in the west of the city and the east cemetery in the east of the city. The St. Michael chapel was built in the west cemetery and the Maria Schnee chapel in the east cemetery. In 1711 the chapel was rebuilt under Hans Schönauer . The last renovation took place in 2013.

The tomb of the Eichstätt court architect Maurizio Pedetti is located directly at the chapel .
