Ribbon for military merit

The Friedrich-August-Kreuz was donated in two classes by Grand Duke Friedrich August von Oldenburg on September 24, 1914 and was intended to be awarded to all persons of military or civil status who excelled during the war .

Order decoration

The cross stamped from black iron is similar to the iron cross . The initials of the founder FA (Friedrich August) can be seen in the medallion . There is a crown in the upper cross arm and the year 1914 in the lower cross arm . A laurel wreath winds between the arms of the cross . The back of the cross is smooth.

Carrying method

While the 1st class is a plug-in cross , the 2nd class, which has smaller dimensions, is worn on the ribbon of the house order.

The ribbon is dark blue with ponceau red side stripes. Non-fighters received the cross on the reverse ribbon - ponceau red with blue side stripes.
