The Friedrich-Wilhelm-Lübke-Kaserne was a barracks in Tarp , which was built in 1960 and was used by the Air Force and the German Navy for their Fliegergeschwader (MFG) until 2005.
history
The barracks were built from 1960 in the small town of Tarp for the reconnaissance squadron 51 . She moved into this from 1962. As early as November 1964, the AG51 moved to Leck and handed over the command of the facility to Marine Aviation Squadron 2 from 1964/65. The Eggebek Air Base , which was used until 2006, was attached to the barracks .
As of February 2, 1985, the barracks were named "Friedrich-Wilhelm-Lübke-Kaserne" after the former Prime Minister of Schleswig-Holstein of the same name . During its existence, it was often visited by high-ranking politicians. The 25th anniversary was celebrated in November 1985.
After the end of the Cold War , the units MFG-1 and -2 were merged in the barracks from 1993. At the end of the 1990s, however, it decided that the Bundeswehr would completely disband its naval aviation units. At the end of 2005 the barracks were closed and released for a residential area from 2006 . The whole barracks were demolished and single-family houses were built there. Today only a small grove reminds of the barracks.
