Friedrich Baser
Friedrich Baser (born February 24, 1893 in Metz ; † June 4, 1990 in Baden-Baden ) was a German musicologist and music critic .
Life
Baser studied music and theater studies in Linz, Leipzig and Munich. In 1926 he became a violinist in the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra, but then switched to music criticism and was music editor of the Heidelberger Tagblatt until 1941; that year he joined the NSDAP. In 1943 he moved to Berlin, but returned to Baden the following year and again worked as a music critic for Baden newspapers.

During the time of National Socialism , he wrote numerous essays in the spirit of National Socialist ideology in the synchronized magazine Die Musik . Later he preferred to work on topics related to Baden music history and published numerous local historical works.
