Friedrich I. von Goseck

Friedrich I. von Goseck († 1042 ) was Count von Goseck , Count of Merseburg and from 1038 Count Palatine of Saxony.

He was the younger son of Count Palatine Burchard I of Saxony from the Goseck family and Oda von Merseburg, daughter of Count Palatine Siegfried II. When his older brother Siegfried died in 1038, he inherited him.

In 1041 the family founded the Goseck monastery. The Goseck Chronicle begins here.

Marriage and children

According to the Goseck Chronicle, he took Agnes from the house of the Counts of Weimar as his wife, probably the daughter of Wilhelm II of Weimar .
