Friedrich III. by Goseck

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Friedrich III. von Goseck (* around 1065 in Weißenburg, Zscheiplitz ; † February 5, 1085 in Zscheiplitz) was Count zu Putelendorf .

He was the only son of the Count Palatine of Saxony , Friedrich II. († 1088), from the house of Goseck and Hedwig from Bavaria.

Around 1081 he married Adelheid, the daughter of Count Lothar Udo II of Stade , Margrave of the North Mark .

In 1085 he was murdered by Dietrich and Ulrich von Deutleben and Reinhard von Reinstedt while hunting at the Zscheiplitz farm on the Unstrut. The background to the offense is in the dark, but since the perpetrators probably come from the northern Harz foreland , where the Gosecker also owned, neighbor disputes are likely.

In the same year his son Friedrich IV was born. He later accused his stepfather Ludwig the Springer , who married Friedrich's widow, of being the murderer.

Since Friedrich III. Before his father Friedrich II died, it was not he but his son Friedrich IV who became the successor and heir of Friedrich II as Count Palatine of Saxony.
