Friedrich W. Zimmermann

Friedrich Wilhelm Zimmermann (* 1939 ) is a German journalist, author and director. The author lines of many television films and radio productions, Internet appearances and newspaper articles occasionally also bear the name Fritz Zimmermann.

Zimmermann began his professional activity as a freelance journalist in 1968 at the Sender Freies Berlin and ended his work as an editor on July 1, 2003 at Westdeutscher Rundfunk in Cologne. Since then he has lived in Berlin again.

His last production (60 minutes) for WDR was "100 million carats - The Oppenheimer diamond dynasty". In cooperation with Wolfgang Landgraeber , this program was broadcast on December 20, 2006 on ARD . This broadcast was preceded by three other video productions on the subject of diamonds in Namibia:

  • "Diamond Fever - Gemstones from the Ocean" (1999)
  • "The hunt for diamond smugglers - On the road with the gemstone police" (2001)
  • "Murder on the Debmar Pacific - Smuggling on Board a Diamond Ship" (2002).

In 2016 he published his book "Liebe - Lust - Prostata", in which he describes his experiences with prostate cancer and the various treatment options; The book is supplemented with interviews that he conducted with numerous medical specialists.

In 2018 he published an illustrated book (COMIC) for the book in collaboration with the illustrator Maki Shimizu.
