from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Friedrich von Regensburg (* after 1250 in Regensburg ; † November 29, 1329 there ) was a lay brother of the Augustinian order and was beatified in 1909 .

Life

He was born in Regensburg after 1250. According to the legendary notes of Hieronymus Streitel from 1519, Frederick heard an Augustinian sermon on the word of Christ: "Go there, sell everything you have and give it to the poor." This sermon moved him to work as an Augustinian lay brother. Numerous legends depict the blessed as a pious worshiper and servant of charity. He brought chunks of bread to the poor of the city that fell from the Augustinian table.

Friedrich died on November 29, 1329 in Regensburg. His grave is in the Church of St. Cäcilia in Regensburg. In the 15th and 16th centuries, many believers made pilgrimages to his grave. Pope Pius X approved the veneration of Frederick as a blessed on May 12, 1909.
