Friendzone

Friendzone (from English friend for friend and zone for area ) refers to a purely platonic relationship between two people in which one person wants a romantic or sexual relationship, but the other does not. The former is then in the friend zone . The status of the friendzone is considered undesirable and has a negative connotation .

Trivia

The term gained greater popularity through the American series Friends . In the 7th episode of the first season, the character Joey Tribbiani says about the character Ross Geller: “You waited too long to make your move and now you are in the friendzone. [...] You are the mayor of the zone. " ("You waited too long for your train and now you are in the Friendzone. [...] You are the Mayor of the Friendzone.")

The scripted reality series FriendZone on MTV addresses a relationship construct in which mostly male candidates confess their love to their female platonic friends . The program shows the initial situation, history and preparation up to the announcement of the confession of love with a positive or negative end.
