The Frisia wind turbines Production GmbH was founded in 1997, companies based in the East Westphalian town of Minden in North Rhine-Westphalia , the wind turbines produced.

history

Frisia was a subsidiary of NEVAG neue energie verbund AG and between 1997 and 2001 produced wind turbines with an output of 750 and 850 kW .

Frisia built the first wind turbine in 1997.

According to Wirtschaftswoche, the wind turbine manufacturer Frisia produced and installed around 135 turbines, which were mainly located in wind farms. Around 80 of them had to be shut down due to construction defects. However, many of these systems could be overhauled, but some were dismantled.

Frisia built, among other things, the wind turbines for the Neuendorf / Kakerbeck wind farm with 27 systems. The wind farm was marketed by Umweltkontor Renewable Energy AG. The expert Manfred Lührs describes the technical problems with the systems in March 2003: "The load-bearing structure is too weak, the generator starts to vibrate, overheats, and the system keeps switching itself off."

The company became insolvent in 2001 due to losses of millions due to technical problems with many of the two types of wind turbine . The customer's claims for damages in November 2001 meant financial failure. In 2002 the company was re-established as FRISIA Windkraftanlagen Service GmbH . Only a few of the original 60 employees were transferred to the newly founded company. Today it only takes care of the maintenance of the systems.

The forerunner of Frisia Windkraftanlagen Produktion GmbH was Windstrom Frisia GmbH.

In principle, the wind energy manufacturer was helped by the Renewable Energy Sources Act from 2000. The industry got off to a flying start with the changed feed-in tariffs for wind power. During this time, Frisia anticipated annual sales of 80 million euros.

Frisia installed a total of 135 wind turbines:

Frisia announced the development of a new wind turbine with a rotor diameter of 60 m and an output of 1,000 kW at the "Hanover Wind Fair". Due to the bankruptcy in November 2001, this type of plant was never built.
