Frithiof Edvard Henrik Nevanlinna (born August 16, 1894 in Joensuu , † March 20, 1977 in Helsinki ) was a Finnish mathematician who dealt with function theory .

He was an older brother of Rolf Nevanlinna and received his doctorate from Ernst Lindelöf in Helsinki in 1918 (on the theory of asymptotic power series). He then worked (as mathematician positions were rare in Finland) in the insurance industry, where he rose to high positions. He later returned to mathematics. 1950 to 1962 he was a professor in Helsinki (as the successor to his brother Rolf, who went to Zurich). In addition, he kept his position on the board of an insurance company until 1961.
