Life

After studying horticulture at the Humboldt University in Berlin from 1982 to 1987, he began working at what is now the Leibniz Institute for Vegetable and Ornamental Plant Production Großbeeren / Erfurt e. V. (formerly the Central Research Institute for Vegetable Growing in the GDR), where he also obtained his doctorate in collaboration with the Humboldt University in Berlin. agr. carried out until 1992. In 1994 he was appointed professor for vegetable growing at the Dresden University of Technology and Economics . In the 2000/2001 and 2010/2011 semesters, Schröder completed a research semester at the University of California, Davis (USA) . On July 29, 2006, Schröder was appointed honorary professor at the Károly Róbert University in Gyöngyös (Hungary).

Schröder is married and has three children.
