Fritz Leverenz

Fritz Leverenz (born April 30, 1941 in Berlin ) is a German writer. He lives in Berlin and writes prose. Fritz Leverenz is a member of the Association of German Writers (VS).

Life

Fritz Leverenz was born as the oldest of three children. He spent childhood and school in Birkenwerder near Berlin. After his apprenticeship as a moulder he went from 1959 to 1963 as a kitchen manager for the NVA. In 1963 he graduated from the Workers and Farmers Faculty in Potsdam, studied sport and history at the Potsdam University of Education from 1964 to 1968 and worked as a teacher until 1982. Narrow concepts of pedagogy and ideological control bothered him. During this time he began to write, left school, worked as an educator and is a member of the Association of German Writers (VS). He is married, has two children and lives in Berlin-Köpenick.

“In the big story 'Der Kuckuck lives noch' (2016), it is the perspective of the adolescent Berlin boy Willi, who experiences the move of his parents from East to West Berlin and tells about it from the retrospective of the almost adult." Ursula Reinhold.

"RS: 'The key date for me is always November 9th, how did you experience that day?'

FL: 'A fortnight earlier there was a new travel regulation, initiated by the Central Committee, which I read through and thought, they are still not ready, they still don't know what the bell rang. On November 8th I wrote a letter to the Central Committee. Comrades, it won't work that way, the following details should be changed. The letter hit like a bomb (joke), the next day the wall fell. "*

"RS: 'You kept writing during this time.'

'FL: Yes, I (always) wrote what I saw on every corner.

After the fall of the Wall, I wrote a little more 'meek'. The publishing house 'Neues Leben' dissolved. …… I then tried to publish with western publishers, none of them were interested. ... .. not even those in the east anymore. I had to start from scratch, so ....... also the breaks in my publications. '"
