Front lens

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The first outwardly directed optical lens of an optical system is called a front lens . This can be a photo - lens , a microscope - lens or eyepiece or a projection lens (lens system for movie or slide projectors to be).

The front lens is usually specially treated on its surface , as it is in direct contact with the environment. Scratch-resistant coatings and an anti-reflective coating are often applied.
