Frozenbyte is a Finnish development studio for computer and video games based in Helsinki . It was founded in 2001 and is now one of the largest training studios in Finland. The company became known in 2009 through the trilogy " Trine ".

history

Frozenbyte was founded in 2001 in Helsinki, Finland. The company started with a few employees and today has around a hundred jobs.

Frozenbyte's first own titles were Shadowgrounds and Shadowgrounds Survivor , which were released in 2005 and 2007. In 2009, the company launched the first part of the “Trine” game series. The successors Trine 2 and Trine 3 followed a few years later . The games were sold more than eight million times.

In 2013 an expanded version of Trine 2, called “Trine 2: Complete Story”, was released, which contained the “Goblin Menace” expansion, which was previously only available as an in-app purchase, and the additional level “Dwarven Caverns”. A year later, Frozenbyte released an updated version of the first part of the series, the Trine Enchanted Edition . There was u. a. the graphics engine was taken over from the newer Trine 2 and a quick save option was added. In 2015 the last part of the series Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power was released .

The last two titles from Frozenbyte so far are Has-Been-Heroes (March 2017), which was created in collaboration with GameTrust , and Nine Parchments (December 2017). The company is working on other titles. Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince was announced on October 24, 2018 .
