Günter Worch

Günter Worch (born September 13, 1895 in Charlottenburg ; † July 23, 1981 in Munich ) was a German civil engineer .

biography

Worch studied civil engineering at the TH Charlottenburg from 1914 to 1920 . In between he was a soldier in the First World War from 1914 to 1918 , where he was wounded in 1916 and lost an arm. He then worked for the steel construction company Breest & Co. in Berlin and for the Mensch engineering office , where he worked on numerous steel structures in Berlin before becoming a scientific assistant at the TH Darmstadt in 1922 . There he received his doctorate in 1923 ( The continuous beam with joints (type Breest) ) and qualified as a professor in 1925 ( studies on the calculation and construction of multi-legged floor frames , published in Der Bauingenieur 1925). He was then a private lecturer and from 1931 associate professor for structural engineering and structural engineering at the TH Darmstadt. From 1933 to 1935 he was chief engineer at the Mensch engineering office in Berlin. In 1935 he became a full professor for structural engineering and steel construction at the Technical University of Munich . In 1945 he was dismissed initially because of political stress, was a professor in 1948 and full professor again from 1949. In 1963 he retired, but until 1965 he was acting head of the chair for steel construction.

He wrote regularly in the concrete calendar, for example, about elastic plates, discs and shells, computers in structural engineering and linear equations in structural engineering. He published, among other things, articles about elastically embedded bars, general questions of statics, the Oder bridge on the Berlin-Stettin motorway (civil engineer 1937) and freight trains of the Reichsbahn.
