" Bauingenieur " is the name of a German-language journal for the construction industry . The civil engineer appears 11 times a year and is the official organ of the structural engineering department in the Association of German Engineers (VDI) .

The magazine is aimed primarily at engineers and technicians from the construction industry and contains specialist articles on topics from solid construction , steel construction , bridge construction , tunnel construction , geotechnical engineering and new construction software and standards . The magazine thus covers practically all areas of structural engineering. The main articles in the journal are always " peer-reviewed ". H. the quality of the content of the article is always assessed by a specialist from the same subject. The journal is listed on Science Citation Index Expanded / Web of Science (ISI) and had an impact factor of 0.866 in 2015.

Due to the target group, which is largely made up of decision-makers , many companies in the construction industry use the magazine to present their products in advertisements .
