Fuente de Neptuno

The Fuente de Neptuno is a monumental fountain in the Plaza Cánovas del Castillo in the center of the Spanish capital Madrid .

The fountain was designed in neoclassicism by Ventura Rodríguez and built from white marble by Juan Pascual de Mena from 1780 to 1784 . The center of the fountain is a statue of the Roman sea god Neptune on a sea creature with a trident in his left hand.
