Fujio Mitarai
Fujio Mitarai ( Japanese 御 手洗 冨 士夫 , Mitarai Fujio ; born September 23, 1935 in Kamae (today: Saiki ), Ōita Prefecture , Japan ) is President of Canon . From May 2006 to May 2010 he was head of the Japanese business association Nippon Keidanren .
Mitarai has been with Canon since April 1961. Before that, he studied at Chūō University .
Five years after starting his career, Fujio Mitarai was sent to the United States by his uncle Takeshi Mitarai , who was a co-founder of Canon . There he would later compete with the camera manufacturers Nikon and Pentax as chairman of Canon USA . The latter dominated the US camera market at the time, while Canon only had seven employees in the country.
