Fujiwara no Kanesuke
Fujiwara no Kanesuke ( Japanese 藤原 兼 輔 ; also: 中 納 言 兼 輔 , Chūnagon Kanesuke or 堤 中 納 言 Tsutsumi Chūnagon ; * 877 ; † March 21, 933 ) was a Japanese Waka poet and aristocrat of the Heian period . He is one of the thirty-six immortals in poetry .
One of his poems was included in the well-known Waka anthology Hyakunin Isshu . His poems were selected for the imperial poetry anthologies Kokin-wakashū and Gosen-wakashū .
His father was Fujiwara no Toshimoto , his mother came from the Ōtomo clan. Kanesuke was married to the daughter of Fujiwara no Sadakata . With her he had five sons.

- ↑ Chūnagon here denotes the court rank of Vice-Minister according to the Ritsuryō system. Tsutsumi literally means dam. The name component is owed to the fact that Fujiwara no Kanesuke's mansion stood at that very spot on Kudo-gawa in Kyoto.
