Full container load

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Full Container Load (FCL) (French Conteneur Complet , German full container load ) is an economic term from freight container traffic . It describes the door-to-door traffic for the entire container. Full Container Load (FCL) can extend to both shipping and general cargo transport by truck . They are also used in intermodal transport with loading onto freight trains or aircraft .

In contrast to the Less Container Load (LCL), which involves different partial loads ( general cargo ) of a standardized freight container , with the FCL the shipping company takes over an already fully loaded container from the unloader for shipment , as the delivery is not assembled and sealed by the customs authorities thus "from a single source" is adopted.

The responsibility lies in the load at the sender and for unloading at the recipient of the goods .

Economical meaning

Full container loads are gaining in importance in international long-distance freight transport, as the mandatory sealing of the smuggling of goods abroad (but also human trafficking ) can be contained. As a result, the so-called transit countries are not exposed to any danger in this regard.
