The screw factory facilities were built at the confluence of the Ennepe and Volme rivers . In the 150 years of existence, the gradually emerging parts of the factory were connected to one another by a system of elevators, stairs and overpasses.

production

Hagen's first steam engine was built here in 1844, the production of rail fastening material was also started in 1850, and a drop forge (with the first belt drop hammer in Germany) was affiliated in 1860 . The company was taken over in 1970 by the Neuss screw manufacturer Bauer & Schaurte and closed in the 1990s.

owner

The founding fathers were Bernhard Wilhelm Funcke I (1793–1857) and his nephew Friedrich Hueck . Wilhelm Funcke I left the company in 1846, his son Wilhelm Funcke II (1820–1896) continued the company with Friedrich Hueck, later Wilhelm Funcke III (1856–1910).

Wilhelm Funcke II relied on company social policy very early on (1855 company health insurance fund, 1869 workers 'savings bank, later also workers' housing and consumer association).

The partner Friedrich Hueck left the company at the end of 1862. In 1875 Theodor Springmann (1840–1927) joined as a partner.

After the Springmann family left the company in 1926, the company remained in the sole possession of the descendants of Wilhelm Funcke III.

From 1910 to 1947 it was run by the brothers Wilhelm Funcke IV and Oscar Funcke , then Fritz Falkenroth (until 1959) and Wilhelm Harkort (from 1959), both grandsons of Wilhelm Funcke III.
