Fusion international (pronunciation: ['fjuʃən]) is an international organization, recognized as a non-profit organization in Australia. According to its own information, it deals primarily with open offers for children and young people in 22 countries around the world. It was founded in Australia in 1960 by Mal Garvin. It has also been active in Germany since 2006.

Fusion specifies district and neighborhood work as the main focus. The aim is to sustainably build up “social capital”. The organization operates around the world with around 250 trained full-time employees and over 20,000 volunteers, so it is dependent on the voluntary commitment of local people.

Working method and goals

According to the company, the primary goal is to offer people all kinds of support close to their home, to provide help and thus to convey new perspectives. Fusion also focuses on existing social networks and offers, such as parishes or associations. Hence the name “Fusion”: The aim is to ensure that organizations, communities and associations pull together “in concert” in their respective work. The organization describes itself as a Christian youth and community organization. The international motto Fusions is therefore: "Bringing young people and communities together with hope" . Fusion work is divided into the following target areas:

Festivals

With these festivals, Fusion primarily wants to create an open offer for families. While the children play together with a colorful entertainment program, parents can exchange ideas with one another or with Fusion employees. In this way, Fusion hopes to positively change neighborhoods. In addition, Fusion wants to draw attention to itself with the festivals and make its work known.

Day trips

Day trips for children and young people are called “Day Trips”. They are adventure educational days on which young people build relationships with one another and with the employees. According to Fusion, the aim is to create an atmosphere in which everyone knows they are valued for who they are and in which self-confidence and trust are strengthened in everyone who is there.

According to its own statements, Fusion wants to offer socially disadvantaged people in particular the opportunity to train in the social field. In Australia, fusion training courses and seminars are officially recognized. Fusion's long-term goal is to achieve this in Germany and other countries as well.

Exchange programs

Fusion also offers exchange programs for young people. Fusion employees and other interested parties travel and a. to participate in individual campaigns for internationally represented fusion distributions.

Fusion Centers

In its own Fusion Centers , Fusion offers training for its own employees as well as training offers in the social field for the public, but especially for socially disadvantaged young people (see above). In total, Fusion has around 30 such centers around the world. The attempt to set up a center in Germany failed because the organization met its payment obligations for the originally purchased property from Ev. Church of Westphalia in Iserlohn did not comply.
