Future simple

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The future tense simple is a tense of the French language . It corresponds to the German future tense .

use

In French, the futur simple is mainly used in written and sophisticated language, whereas in colloquial language the futur composé is mostly used. It identifies events that lie in the distant future or the details of which are still undetermined.

The futur simple only exists in the indicative .

Formation: Infinitive of the verb + the conjugated forms of avoir (exception 1st and 2nd person plural, there only the ending of the corresponding form). If the 1st person singular deviates slightly from the infinitive, this form is to be used as the stem and is supplemented by an "r". (appeler, j'appelle, j'appellerai). Thus it is more advantageous for many verbs not to form the stem from the infinitive.

je parler + -ai je parlerai
tu -as tu parleras
il/elle/on -a il/elle/on parlera
nous -ons nous parlerons
vous -ez vous parlerez
ils/elles -ont ils/elles parleront
