The Appenzeller Kantonalbank , based in Appenzell, is the cantonal bank of the canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden . It was founded in 1899 and is organized in the form of a public corporation. The bank has four locations in the canton in Appenzell, Oberegg , Weissbad and Haslen . Her area of activity has traditionally been in retail banking , mortgage lending , private banking and banking with small and medium-sized companies .
Until 1999 the bank was called Appenzell-Innerrhodische Kantonalbank .
Ownership and business areas
The bank is organized as an institution under public law and is wholly owned by the canton. Like the vast majority of the cantonal banks, the APPKB also has a state guarantee from the canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden. The institute's endowment capital is CHF 30 million. There is no possibility for private individuals to participate in the APPKB and it is therefore not listed on any stock exchange .
With a share of around 75 percent of the ordinary income, the interest differential business is the main line of business. In addition, 20 percent come from the commission and service business, 3 percent from the trading business and 2 percent as other ordinary income.

The highest supervisory body of the Appenzeller Kantonalbank is the bank council. This consists of 9 members and is currently chaired by Roman Boutellier. The members and the presidium of the bank council are determined by the grand council of the canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden ( canton's legislature ).
The operational management is carried out by the management. This consists of five members and is headed by U. Manser.
