The Aargauische Kantonalbank (AKB), based in Aarau, is the cantonal bank of the Canton of Aargau . It was founded in 1913 and is organized in the form of a public corporation. It is a classic universal bank for private and corporate customers as well as for institutional investors. The AKB has 32 offices in the canton of Aargau and in the neighboring Solothurn region of Olten-Gösgen-Gäu. The company has around 810 employees, 77 of whom are apprentices and interns.

Ownership and business areas

The Aargauische Kantonalbank is organized as an institution under public law and is 100 percent owned by the canton. AKB is a universal bank with core competencies in savings, mortgages, lending for small and medium-sized companies and public corporations, as well as investment advice and portfolio management. The services are offered both in the canton of Aargau and in the neighboring Solothurn region of Olten-Gösgen-Gäu.

Governing body

The highest supervisory body is the Bankrat, which is elected by the Grand Council (legislature of the Canton of Aargau) for a four-year term.
