The Association of Swiss Cantonal Banks (VSKB; French Union des Banques Cantonales Suisses , Italian Unione delle Banche Cantonali Svizzere ) is an association of the 24 cantonal banks in Switzerland . Its purpose is to safeguard the common interests and to promote cooperation among its members and is committed to strengthening the position of the cantonal banks in Switzerland. The association, organized in the legal form of an association , was founded in 1907 and has had an office at its statutory seat in Basel since 1971 .

organization

The highest body of the VSKB is the General Assembly , in which each member has only one vote. Its most important tasks include issuing and amending the Articles of Association , receiving the annual report and the annual financial statements, and electing the President and Vice-President of the Board of Directors and the auditors .

The board of directors forms the management body of the association. It currently consists of 25 members and consists of the 24 CEOs of the individual cantonal banks as well as the president elected by the general assembly for a four-year term. Urs Müller has been President since March 1, 2012.

The Board Committee is formed from a maximum of nine members of the Board of Directors. This represents a narrower management body subordinate to the Board of Directors and is responsible, among other things, for executing the resolutions of the General Meeting and the Board of Directors. For example, the Board Committee deals with issues related to cooperation projects, sets up commissions and working groups, deals with fundamental questions of joint marketing, protects the interests of associations in other organizations and with respect to federal authorities and the Swiss National Bank, and makes decisions on urgent matters within the competence of the Board of Directors.

The office is the executive body of the Association of Swiss Cantonal Banks. It forms a link in day-to-day business between the association and the association members as well as between the association and the federal authorities and institutions. In addition, she represents the cantonal banking group to the media and the public.
