History of the Lucerne Cantonal Bank

In 1850, LUKB was founded as a cantonal savings and loan bank based in Lucerne. The name was changed to the current name in 1892.

In 1996 the first subsidiary, LUKB Expert Fondsleitung AG, was founded, offering fund-based collective investments. In 1996 the bank joined Adler & Co. Privatbank and in 2001 took over all shares in the private bank. One year before the turn of the millennium, the bank opened a private banking branch in Ticino .

In 2000 the people accepted a proposal for the conversion of LUKB into a stock corporation and partial privatization. The change was implemented in 2001 and the share was listed as a secondary placement on the SIX Swiss Exchange . In 2006 Adler & Co Privatbank took over the Basel location of swissfirst Bank AG . In 2008, another subsidiary was founded with LUKB Growth Capital AG, which specializes in the financing of start- ups. In 2010 the subsidiary Adler & Co. Privatbank AG merged with the parent company LUKB. In 2011 the bank closes its two locations in Basel and Chiasso .
