Doris Russi Schurter

Doris Russi Schurter (born February 18, 1956 in Andermatt ) is a Swiss lawyer and entrepreneur . She is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Helvetia Insurance and the Luzerner Kantonalbank .

education

Russi Schurter studied law and obtained a licentiate from the University of Freiburg in 1980 and the Urner patent as a lawyer and notary in 1983. She then completed various training courses in Switzerland and the USA, including at Georgetown University and Harvard Business School .

career

Russi Schurter was a lawyer at Fides Treuhandgesellschaft and KPMG Fides Basel from 1983 to 1992. From 1993 to 2005 she worked at KPMG in Basel and Lucerne, where she held various management positions as a lawyer and partner, most recently from 1994 to 2005 as the location manager of KPMG Lucerne. She was also President of the Central Switzerland Chamber of Commerce (today Central Switzerland Chamber of Commerce and Industry) from 2000 to 2004.

Russi Schurter has been an independent lawyer at the Burger & Müller law firm in Lucerne since 2005. She deals with commercial law, advises private individuals on succession planning and provides services in the trust and family office area as well as foundation law. She is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners .

Mandates

Russi Schurter has held various board memberships since 2001. She is President of the Board of Directors of Helvetia Insurance ; she took over the office from Pierin Vincenz in April 2018 . She is also President of the Board of Directors of the Lucerne Cantonal Bank . Russi Schurter is also a member of the Board of Directors of Swiss International Air Lines AG and President of the Association of Swiss Companies in Germany (VSUD). Russi Schurter was also a member of the board of directors of the national grid company Swissgrid and president of the boards of directors of LZ Medien Holding and Patria Genossenschaft. According to the SRF, she is considered to be “one of the most influential business women” in Switzerland.

As a member of the Board of Trustees of the Student Mentor Foundation Lucerne, Russi Schurter is committed to affordable housing for students. The foundation has created housing for 280 students in Lucerne . She has also set up the Art Mentor Foundation Lucerne, which promotes projects in the fields of visual arts, music and cultural education around the world. She was also President of the University Association of the University of Lucerne for eleven years until March 2018 .

Private

Doris Russi Schurter is married to the entrepreneur Hans-Rudolf Schurter, who is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Schurter Holding AG . The two have a grown son.
