The financial and economic in 1928 by the Zurich private bank founded Daetwyler & Co. and first appeared on October 4, 1928 under the title Börsenblatt . Since January 3, 1929 the newspaper appears under the title Finanz und Wirtschaft in the publishing house of the same name. The driving force behind the founding of the newspaper was the journalist Hans Hermann. In 1961 the lawyer Alfred Isler took over finance and business and in the following years, as a publisher and temporary editor-in-chief, increased the circulation and volume of the newspaper continuously. The finance and economy was transferred to a stock corporation . From 1988 to 2004, Gerhart Isler (* 1949), the son of the late publisher, took over the management of the publishing house. On January 1, 2000, the Zurich publishing house Tamedia AG took over all shares in the Finanz und Wirtschaft AG publishing house. The publisher is Pietro Supino of Tamedia.
