Schlatt-Haslen is a district in the canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden in eastern Switzerland .
Local division
Schlatt-Haslen east includes the area of Hundwiler Höhi and extends to the Rotbach with the villages Haslen ( seven hundred and forty-five thousand six hundred sixteen / two hundred and forty-eight thousand two hundred sixty-nine ) schlatt and Enggenhütten .
According to a decision from 1870, Schlatt-Haslen also includes the Wonnenstein Monastery as an exclave in the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden (municipality of Teufen AR ) .
history
The Schlatt-Haslen district emerged in 1872 from the Rhode Schlatt and the village of Haslen .
Names
- Schlatt comes from «Slatte»: subsidence or slope.
- Haslen comes from «Haslowe»: Au or water-rich meadow with hazel trees.

Attractions
The neo-Romanesque parish church of Maria Hilf in Haslen, built in 1901, houses a painting of Our Lady with Child, probably a copy of the Passau Madonna. The Schlatt branch church with the portrait of Maria vom Guten Rat was built in 1911. Both churches were planned by August Hardegger and serve as pilgrimage churches .
The center of the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden lies in the Haslen area .
