Göteborgs-Posten (often abbreviated GP ) is a liberal Swedish daily newspaper published in Gothenburg .

Göteborgs-Posten was founded in 1859 by Felix Bonnier. The newspaper changed hands several times in the following decades. In 1926, Harry Hjörne acquired the newspaper and began a major modernization that popularized the language and content while keeping the price low. In the following decades, the circulation rose from 23,000 (1926) to 200,000 in the 1940s and over 300,000 in the 1970s. The success meant that the competitors Ny Tid and Göteborgs Handels- och Sjöfartstidning finally had to leave the field in the 70s and 80s respectively.

The current edition is 177,000 copies (2014). Göteborgs-Posten is currently the second largest quality newspaper in Sweden after Dagens Nyheter .
