Gülay Olt-Sahiner

Gülay Olt-Sahiner (* 1954 in Erenköy ( Istanbul , Turkey )) is the Austrian singer of Turkish descent from the music group Gülay & The Ensemble Aras .

biography

In 1989 Gülay met Josef Olt, who was looking for someone who could sing Azerbaijani music. The group Gülay & The Ensemble Aras was founded together with the Iranian musician Nariman Hodjati . As the singer of the internationally successful group, she interprets the songs in the respective original language using a singing technique developed by the Ottoman court. During the live performances, she also benefits from the dance training she received in Istanbul. For the CD "Sounds of Sunrise" she contributed a song text and also designed the cover.
