Gültekin is a Turkish male given name , which is interpreted in folk etymology as "rose prince" (from Persian gül , the rose and Turkish tekin, tegin, tigin , originally an old Turkish nobility title). In fact, the name goes back to the old Turkish statesman Kül Tigin , whose grave inscription from the 8th century was found on Orkhon in Mongolia . The name also occurs as a family name . In Azerbaijan , the form Gultekin occurs. Gültekin means "trustworthy person" according to the name dictionary of the Turkish language.
