Gültekin Emre

Gültekin Emre (* 1951 in Konya , Turkey ) is a Berlin native researcher, Turkish-speaking poet and translator from Russian into Turkish.

Life

Born in Turkey, he studied Slavic Studies at Ankara University and published several volumes of poetry before he went to Germany. He also translated works by Russian authors into Turkish, a. a. Maxim Gorky and Vladimir Mayakovsky . Emre has lived and worked in Berlin since 1980. His research on “a forgotten chapter of Berlin's cultural history”, published for the first time in 1983 by Ararat-Verlag , 300 years of Turks on the Spree , was reprinted in 1997. The publication Berlin appeared regionally in Turkish literature . In addition, Emre published other volumes of poetry in Germany, both in German and in Turkish. In addition, Emre took part in the film Import-Export - A Journey into the German-Turkish Past (2006) on the subject of “Turks on the Spree” .
