The Hayati Önel Publishing is a 1982 founded Cologne publishing company, German-speaking, Turkish-speaking and bilingual (German and Turkish) books published all kinds.

Today the company, which began as a school book publisher, is combined with a bookbinding, printing and online shop in the Önel Group media group .

To this day, the publishing house primarily sells and publishes Turkish textbooks for teaching Turkish to children of Turkish origin in Germany, as well as the subject of Turkish in German schools. In this context, Önel also cooperates with the well-known German school book publisher Cornelsen . Önel's school publishing products are also used in the rest of Europe as teaching aids for teaching Turkish children in their native language .

In addition, specialist publications such as literature and children's books are part of the bilingual publishing program. One focus is on the topics of Turkey and interculturality .

The well-known German-speaking authors who published in Önel-Verlag include the Islamic scholar Annemarie Schimmel , winner of the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade, and Yüksel Pazarkaya . German authors like Max von der Grün also appeared in Turkish at Önel.

The publisher is Cengiz Hayati Önel , who has been in Germany since 1971.

On the occasion of the German-Turkish Entrepreneur Day on September 22, 2006, Cologne's Lord Mayor Fritz Schramma spoke of the "proud number of employees" at Önel Verlag in his speech, but particularly emphasized the voluntary commitment of the publisher Önel, who also trains numerous people in his company :

"In a unique way, Mr. Hayati Önel networks voluntary work in the areas of migration, culture, social affairs, education and training as well as environmental protection at all government levels."

At the moment 530 titles are available from Önel (as of February 2007).
