Günther Rabl (* 1953 in Linz ) is an Austrian electroacoustic composer .

Rabl learned to play the double bass at the age of 16 . Since then he has remained faithful to improvisation . He played in the free jazz scene, including with Leszek Zadlo . In 1974 he discovered electroacoustics and experimental music at the University of Music and Performing Arts . Between 1978 and 1980 he appeared in a trio with Friedrich Gulda and Ursula Anders . Rabl continued to play with musicians like Dieter Feichtner .

In order to be able to work more intensively with the tape, Rabl moved to the country and mainly rented houses with large rooms and quiet surroundings in order to produce in his own studio. With the world premiere of his work Mugl I Emerges in the Parisian Théâtre Récamier under the sound direction of François Bayle , he made his breakthrough in electroacoustic music .
