Għar Qawqla
Għar Qawqla is a rock formation in Marsalforn Bay , which is located on the northeast coast of the island of Gozo, part of the Maltese archipelago . This rock is the remains of a collapsed rock gate . He belongs to the Żebbuġ community .
In photographs from the beginning of the 20th century, a rock arch can be seen that connected the rock, which was around 3 m high in the 21st century, with the mainland.
Such caves or arches washed away by the sea, as originally depicted by the Għar Qawqla, are called forna in the Gozitan dialect of the Maltese language . From this derive some second part forn of the place name Marsalforn ago.
