Żebbuġ [ zɛbˈbʊːt͡ʃ ] (or Iż-Żebbuġ ) is a municipality on the island of Gozo , which is part of the Republic of Malta . It has 2293 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2018) and is located in the northwest of the island, near the towns of Għarb and Marsalforn on a hill above the coast.

The word Żebbuġ means olive in German . The village was known for the cultivation of these fruits, although today there are only a few olive trees in the area. Similarly, one Iż-Żebbuġ knows because of verfertigten there lace-making estates (typical for Gozo) and the beautiful places along the coast.

People have lived around Iż-Żebbuġ for many thousands of years; Nearby - on the Kuljat Hill - you can find remains from the Bronze Age and to the north of it, in the Qbajjar Bay, there are older finds.
