The GARNIX has been an annual, multi-day open-air festival on the campus of the Technical University of Munich in Garching near Munich since 2001 - with the exception of a two-year break, in 2010 and 2011 . In addition to the musical program, other cultural and sporting events also take place during the festival. Alongside the TUNIX and the StuStaCulum, GARNIX is the third non-profit, student-organized festival in the Munich area. Since 2003, the festivals have had a joint coordination under the umbrella title Triple Live Summer . The one-day university summer party of the LMU Munich has also been part of it since 2010 (2019 on July 5th). With around 10,000 visitors, the GARNIX is the smallest of the multi-day festivals that together attract around 60,000 visitors.

history

After the campus of the Technical University of Munich in Garching became more and more important, the Student Representation of the Technical University of Munich decided to have another festival in Garching next to the TUNIX. From 2001 to 2008 the event took place on a meadow behind the cafeteria and thus outside the typical student footpaths.

In 2009 the festival was moved to a centrally located meadow and an open-air cinema was held in parallel on the old festival site.

Due to construction work, the festival could not take place in 2010, which is why no organizer could be found among the students in 2011. However, the event has been organized annually since 2012, date 2019: June 3 to 7 (TUNIX 2019: June 17 to 21), date 2020: June 22 to 26 (TUNIX 2020: June 8 to 12 ).
