First broadcast March 24, 2003 on NBC Europe

GIGA Help was an interactive live service broadcast on NBC Europe and began broadcasting on March 24, 2003. It was broadcast from what was then the GIGA studio in Düsseldorf, the so-called “New Media Center”.

General information

Until the broadcast was discontinued, this was always the on-air logo. The image in the info box was supposed to replace the previous logo in 2005 and was partially used in the final phase of the program.

At the beginning, the program was broadcast Mondays to Thursdays and later also Fridays from 9:00 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. The show was recently moderated by the so-called "network reporters" Shu On Kwok, Hüseyin Öztürk and Kevin Körber.

GIGA Help emerged from the previous "Help section" of the NBC GIGA program , which primarily helped with problems and questions relating to hardware , software and telecommunications . In addition, innovations from the IT industry were presented.

At CeBIT 2003, a survey was published on the program's own homepage, asking whether such a program should be realized, which was clearly in favor of the program “GIGA Help”.

The previous “Help section” at NBC GIGA was renamed “Helpcenter” a short time later; In terms of content, the focus there was from then on increasingly on helping those seeking advice. In GIGA Help, innovations, tips and tricks were primarily presented. Experts were often invited who , in line with the GIGA philosophy , were in dialogue with the audience and were able to collect their questions and opinions.

After 425 broadcasts, GIGA Help was discontinued on January 28, 2005. The slot was taken over by a new program called GIGA PLAY , another game program that was briefly designed and implemented after the discontinuation was announced. This controversial step was justified by the fact that the Games editorial team, in contrast to the Help editorial team, had an underutilized workforce at its disposal.

In the afternoon program, which was renamed GIGA green on March 1, 2005 , the tech area was created on this day, which was more reminiscent of GIGA Help than of the previous Help Center area.
