GNU Privacy Project

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The GNU Privacy Project , abbreviated to GnuPP , is an open source project for the encryption of e-mails that was funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology and the Federal Ministry of the Interior . The software package provided by the project is also called GnuPP . The project ran from 2001 to 2002. The Gpg4win initiative has existed since 2006 , which provides a comparable installation package for Windows operating systems and is based on the same core component - GnuPG.

Confidential and secure communication has become more and more important, especially for the areas of e-commerce and e-government that are developing on the Internet . With this justification, GnuPP was funded by federal funds.
