gPROMS

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

gPROMS is a commercial process development environment from Process Systems Enterprise Ltd. (PSE).

gPROMS (abbreviation for general PROcess Modeling System) is described as a highly developed process development environment, which is used in the large process industries as well as in around 150 university institutions. There is also a product family of the same name that also has interfaces to other software. The program works equation-oriented. It relies on the creation of individual models, which in turn are linked to processes. It offers the possibility of creating complex models as well as determining parameters according to the maximum likelihood method . It also enables the user to create flow chart simulations in order to manage complex processes. Another special feature is that gPROMS calculates with an astronomical time, i.e. This means that all relationships that are created in the models are time-dependent.

The software is one of the leading of its kind worldwide and is used in particular in the oil industry. In 2001 there was the UK Queen's Award for Enterprise in 2001 and in 2008 the MacRobert Award in the innovation category.

In January 2008 a subsidiary was founded in Korea.
