The GRTgaz SA (originally for de Gestionnaire du Réseau Transport Gaz ), headquartered in Bois-Colombes, near Paris is a French transmission system operator for natural gas . GRTgaz operates a European pipeline network with a length of 32,121 kilometers, mainly in France. GRTgaz is a 75% subsidiary of the GDF Suez group.

GRTgaz was founded on January 1, 2005 by the former GDF in order to operate the outsourced gas network independently and without discrimination in accordance with EU energy directives. In 2011, GDF Suez sold a 25% stake in Société d'Infrastructures Gazières (SIG), a consortium made up of the state investors CNP Assurances and Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations .

GRTgaz Germany

The GRTgaz Germany GmbH (formerly Gaz de France Germany Transport GmbH ) based in Berlin, is a wholly owned subsidiary of GRTgaz. As a partner in MEGAL (with a 44% share), GRTgaz Deutschland is co-operator of the pipeline system of the same name in Germany. In addition, GRTgaz Deutschland is a partner in NetConnect Germany and Trac-x . For the further marketing of capacities at the border crossing points, GRTgaz Germany cooperates with the platforms Capsquare and GATRAC.

GRTgaz in Austria

In Austria, GRTgaz SA holds a 34% share in Baumgarten-Oberkappel Gasleitungsgesellschaft (BOG), the operator of the West Austria gas pipeline .
